Director Finance and Administration – (Controller)

Overview of the Position

Reporting directly to the COO & Executive Vice President, the Director of Finance and Administration will be responsible for implementing an internal control system to optimize the financial performance of the organization, which is experiencing substantial growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, manage, control, and evaluate the activities of the Finance and Administration department
  • Develop and implement the organization’s financial policies, procedures, and systems
  • Coordinate the preparation of monthly financial statements, summaries, and reports (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow)
  • Update budget accounts, cash flow, and financing requirements, actual and forecast for the future
  • Set up a budget process, prepare and track financial forecasts, and deliver a quarterly presentation to the management team
  • Collaborate with different team members in the development of budgets related to client projects
  • Participate in the management and development of relationships with financial partners
  • Perform a financial evaluation of and ensure follow-up on the company’s projects
  • Oversee the payroll cycle with the external vendor
  • Supervise year-end and all income tax returns
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing policies, procedures, and systems while monitoring the implementation of new initiatives
  • Review various legal contracts and recommendations in collaboration with management
  • Ensure the management and submission of certain suppliers (e.g. insurance)
  • Handle administrative management of the company and  Human Resources

Skills:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in accounting or finance
  • 5–10 years of experience as a financial controller or in a similar position in a fast-growing company (“scale-up”)
  • 5 years’ experience in a management team
  • Have a keen interest in the development and ” field ” application of financial processes in a scale-up context.
  • Excellent organizational skills, initiative, high autonomy, and relational ease
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
  • Leadership;
  • Strong change management skills and flexibility
  • Language: French/professional-level English (note that all of our clients are based in the United States and Europe)
